Suter Art Gallery

Project Overview

The Suter Art Gallery is a significant cultural institution in the Nelson Tasman region - one that was in need of updating to fit its role as a vibrant regional arts centre for the 21st century.

Redevelopment works included the strengthening and restoration of the original heritage gallery and theatre, as well as the construction of new gallery, foyer, reception, education and café spaces. This challenging build included partly precast walls and floors combined with timber framed walls over 7m in height. The complex roof structure comprised of some 41 different planes and in excess of 10km of LVL timber framing. Thanks to careful programming and coordination of specialist trades, the project was completed on time and within budget.
